To Fat to Die

For the life of me I could never understand why people would do themselves in. I can almost see it if one has hot the bottom and had no other place to turn. I also think someone who tells jokes for two hundred and fifty dollars a gig should never have that cross their minds, but they do, why?

We just had Greg Giraldo, you know, the guy who is on all the comedy Central Roasts, or the chandler roommate when Joey moved out for a week, well, he tells jokes for a living and is now in critical condition for an overdose. How hard can life be?

Artie Lange, the guy who gets two hundred and fifty thousand dollars per gig for telling jokes, the guy who gets paid well to sit with Howard Stern and comment every once in a while, tried to kill himself. He even has a best seller, "Too Fat to Fish". I can't understand this, I will never understand. I write jokes for a living among other things. It has its up's and downs and when it is time for the downs it is down, trust me, I don't make the Stephen King money nor do I get 250,000 dollars a gig. People dig ditches for a living, people who break their backs, who cannot make ends meet, who are at rock bottom, they survive so why can't men who tell stories or make people laugh. Some say they are crying on the inside, well, suck it up.

I choose only two to talk about because they both are at the top of their game. There have been others who are gone now, oh well, killing yourself really made us laugh harder now didn't it.
